RESPONSIBILITIES:
The person is responsible in the design, development, administration, support, monitoring, fine tuning, migration and documentation of databases, tables, data models, database schemes, procedures and permissions for Emerson Energy Systems as part off the global web applications group.
* Design, document, architect and maintain database architecture and services to support the Emerson Energy Systems Web applications.
* Provide Basic SharePoint Administration.
* Build database scheme, tables, procedures and permissions.
* Analyze and sustain capacity and performance requirements.
* Analyze, consolidate and tune database for optimal efficiency.
* Monitor systems an platforms for availability.
* Oversee backup, clustering, mirroring, replication and failover.
* Restore and recover corrupted databases.
* Install and test upgrades and patches.
* Implement security and encryption.
* Perform software upgrades to various applications.
* Research and implement emerging technologies to reduce costs, increase reuse of technology components, and ensure a single version of the truth.
* Use a variety of tools (such as Visio, ERWin) to efficiently generate database components and communicate with non-technical users.
* Provide data modeling services and review/ approval, data profiling, data cleansing and integrity, database and query tuning and enterprise metadata management, including repository implementation and maintenance,
* Establish and use departmental design, architecture, and development standards, practices and procedures, and sound coding techniques to develop, test, implement and support global web applications.
* Oversee the creation of architecture deliverables including services, frameworks, templates, taxonomies, tools and standards, guidelines and best practices to support the delivery of IT solutions.
* Leverage available toolsets (Microsoft Office, etc.) to drive more efficient collaboration and productivity of the Web Applications team.
* This person provides technical leadership and direction to our developers and web applications team members.
* Provides customer support and production support for global web applications as required, tracking and documenting user issues.
* Makes every effort to complete assigned projects on time as assigned by Web Project Leader and Manager, Web/ eBusiness Applications.
* Establish and follow internal and industry-standard best practices with respect to web-based security models and technologies.
* Prioritizes workload based on business objectives and direction from Web Project Leader and Manager, Web/ eBusiness Applications.
* Tests all code before releasing to the QA server to ensure the project meets all specified criteria in the specification and functions without error.
* Brings conflicting issues or concerns to the Project Leader and Manager, Web/ eBusiness Applications immediately when discovered.
* Maintains assigned areas within Web applications either by projects assigned or by permanently assigned areas.
* Attends meetings on specific projects on behalf of web applications to provide input on design criteria and specification definitions.
* Assists Project Leader and Manager, Web/ eBusiness Applications with training and support of other Web Applications Developers (such as Manila) as required.
* Make sure ITSS tickets that are logged for the Web Applications group are processed quickly and efficiently.
* Contribute to project technical specifications for new applications as required.
* Research and develop cases with application vendors.
* Take on special projects that will broaden your experiences and help the business accomplish its goals.
REQUIREMENTS:
* Must have a BS Degree or higher in Computer Science or a related field and/ or equivalent technical experience within database development and administration.
* Shall have over five years of experience in database development, administration or data architecture.
* Possess good database design, development and administration skills. Has a thorough understanding of the interrelationships between applications, hardware, networks, business process, technology and data.
* Highly experienced with the following:
o Microsoft SQL Server 2005, T-SQL, Query Analyzer and SQL Profiler
o Windows 2K, XP and 2K3 Server
o WSSWindows SharePoint Services 3.0 or Microsot Office SharePoint Server 2007
o Internet Information Server (IIS5 and 6)
o Object Oriented Programming (OOP) design and development principles
o Data modeling transactional and analytical data stores
o Universal Modeling Language (UML) Design principles.
o Development of web-based applications
o Security practices and technologies
* Driven to succeed in a hectic, fast paced, high-pressure development environment where there are multiple priorities
* Knowledge of Windows, Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access and Visio; Outlook and Microsoft Project.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to express thoughts and ideas clearly.
* Can organize multiple tasks and possesses strong organizational skills
* Excellent interpersonal skills with a positive attitude
* Close attention to detail, follow-up, with an extreme sense of urgency and perseverance
* Ability to resolve conflicts
* Provides timely and accurate follow up to inquires
