Responsibilities:
Basic purpose: The successful candidate shall work with an international multidisciplinary team consisting of biological scientists and programmers involved in the FishBase and SeaLifeBase Projects and other projects of FIN
Working under the direction and guidance of a Senior Programmer, the successful candidate shall have the following responsibilities:
* To program dynamic webpages for database projects (e.g. FishBase, SeaLifeBase, Aquamaps);
* To handle maintenance and implementation of developments of the FishBase website and related project websites;
* Perform all other related duties that may be assigned from time to time by the supervisor
Requirements:
* At least 3 years experience in web programming using PHP and CSS, preferably with knowledge of ColdFusion
* At least 3 years experience using database management systems preferably MySQL and MS Access
* Excellent knowledge of SQL and relational database
* Good knowledge and/or some experience on the Java development environment
* Good understanding of XML and XML-related technologies
* Good communication skills with good command of the English language
